Early Bird

I got up at 06:00 and through the dark morning and heavy rain made it to my local swimming pool for a swim before work. I haven't done this in years. It's a newly refurbished leisure centre and it's just opened. I was expecting to have the have the whole pool to myself but was shocked and bitterly disappointed surprised to find quite a lot of like minded people.

I did about 12 lengths following the one way system with a big grin on my face. It's a great way to start the day. This is going to be a regular part of my weeks fitness I just hope they keep it on the timetable.

Learning To Swim…….again.

I have just started taking formal swimming lessons in an effort to become more efficient through the water for part of the triathlon training i am going to start to undertake. I didn’t know swimming was so technical. The instructor was great. She broke my stroke down into small pieces and just started, well from the beginning. At first i thought i would never get it but during periods of practice i could feel it all coming together. When it does you seem to glide through the water. This also starts me off into doing other fitness apart from just running and i can feel the benefits already.

More Paddling.

Last Sunday me and Gaz went for a 17 mile paddle down the River Conwy in the Canadian Canoe. It took us just over 5 hours and as such for a couple of days afterwards i was walking around like an ironing board due to the incredible pain in all my muscles. I managed to do a 3 miler in the week and i have just got back from doing a 4 miler in the hills. Rubbish training so far but i will soon sort it out.

Nothing wrong just working nights this weeks. After doing a 12 hour night shift noooo running. I did win a swimming race last weekend and will post pics etc when i get the photos off my camera etc.

It is so good to be back running after having over a week of doing nothing. I must admit it was hard to get my arse out there but once i did it changes everything from the way i eat to the energy i have during the day. I know for a fact that without running i would soon turn into a 20 stone lazy monster.

Another 4 miler this morning and then we all went swimming which was great fun. Yes i know i look just great with my Speedo goggles :)
