Woot!! the Olympics have started. I love them. I can remember watching the Los Angeles Olympics in 84 when i was 11 and being completely hooked to the TV when the commentary even sounded fuzzy and far away. I love em.
Just got back from a quick 3 miler only a short one becauase tommorow morning im going for a very slow 15 miler.
Just want to point you over to Running Matters post on
“In the Gym” :) great stuff.
A 5 miler this afternoon and i did that thing where you speed up for awhile say about 600 to 700 meters or so in my case until i can’t breathe anymore and then slow down until you get your breath back and repeat. Just adds a little interest instead of the mindless plodding i usually do.
And here is a picture from the garden i took today post heavily photo-shopped for no apparent reason.
A wet, muggy and warm 4 miler this afternoon. I ran into a small swarm of little flies and when i got back i had little black dots all over my face where they were wallowing in the drops of sweat…..nice.
Just ordered a new pair of trainers, Nike Air Pegasus £45. An old trainer i know but they have always served me well so i see no reason to fork out £100 plus just to get the latest zoom bounce retaining cushion sole flex atomic weight balance dap! Those Mizuno trainers in the banner pic i have had for over 4 years now so time to bin them. I have a trainer for mid week shortish runs and a trainer for long runs. The Nike ones are for my longer runs.
Traditionally Sunday mornings are for a long run amongst most runners and i suppose the question could be asked how long is a long run? I suppose it’s all relative to the person doing it. Anyway thats what i heard.
I got up quite early to the annoying electronic noises from the kids keyboard my daughter is into at the moment and just went into auto mode and put my kit on like i do every Sunday morning. I find my GPS has only got 1 hour left so i put it on charge for 20 minutes and joined the little one in trying to make music.
I get my arse outside and slowly plod on. Avoiding the puke patches and empty beer cans on some of the pavements i make it to the beech and find about 10 or 15 tents pitched up on the sea front. This constitutes an invasion on epic scales around these parts. Must be students. I say hello to 2 or 3 Dog walkers but secectly i’m checking to see if they have those poo bags.
8 miles later which was supposed to be 12 i finish off. I love Sunday mornings and thats my long run…….relatively speaking
